Bob Starkey

Bob Starkey was appointed Major League Baseball’s Chief Financial Officer and Senior Advisor by Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. on December 4, 2014. Starkey oversees financial operations for MLB and plays a key role on industry economics and analysis. Starkey’s association with Major League Baseball began in 1991, when he was engaged to analyze the industry’s economics and financial condition. In the ensuing years, he worked closely with Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig and Manfred on a variety of industry economic and financial matters, including collective bargaining, the creation and administration of the revenue sharing system and debt-service rule, numerous new stadium projects and various club financial, valuation and transaction matters. Starkey has supported numerous MLB committees and special projects. Starkey began his professional career as a CPA in the Minneapolis office of Arthur Andersen. After being admitted to the partnership in 1987, he soon became the partner-in-charge of the Andersen professional sports industry group. After resigning from Andersen in 1999, he formed his own sports consulting firm, Starkey Sports Consulting, LLC, through which he has advised MLB and several professional sports franchises on a variety of financial matters. In his hometown of Minneapolis, Starkey was involved in all aspects of the legislation, negotiation, development and financing of Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Starkey is a graduate of Drake University. The Chicago native has resided in the Twin Cities for nearly 40 years.

Sung received a Bachelor of Science in economics at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and an MBA from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD). She resides in Manhattan, with her husband and two children, Tristan and Sydney.
