Steve Hanon

Steve is a broad-based financial and operational executive, having served in senior executive roles at leading global businesses in the fashion, consumer, media and education sectors. In his role as Chief Financial Officer, he leads the design and implementation of Avenues’ global financial, accounting, planning and treasury functions, as well as select operational, information technology and human resources activities. He will also support development at the school’s future campuses. Prior to joining Avenues, Steve served as CFO of Ralph Lauren’s global retail business, with flagship stores in North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America, as chief financial and operating officer of Scripps Networks’ Shop at Home interactive retail division and as CFO/COO for several education companies within the Sterling Partners’ educational investment portfolio. His early career included roles in finance and strategic planning with Goldman Sachs, Limited Brands, Price Waterhouse and PepsiCo International, including five years of experience in Europe.

Amrita Bhandari
CFO of Acumen
Acumen’s focus on building a world based on dignity through creative though tangible solutions is why I am so passionate about working here.” Amrita is Acumen’s global CFO, responsible for financial operations across our geographies, strategy, planning and reporting. Prior to Acumen, Amrita was CFO of Katzenbach Partners, a dynamic management consulting firm and was instrumental in the merger integration of Katzenbach with Booz & Co. In addition to her management role, she consulted with clients across a range of industries with a focus on strategy and planning. Since then, she developed her own independent consulting practice with a focus on inspiring organizations in the social sector. Amrita has worked with Acumen in the past as a strategy consultant covering a range of topics such as clarifying Acumen’s business model, developing a multi-year operating plan and evaluating Acumen’s employee compensation plans. Amrita has also worked with Management Leadership for Tomorrow, Edelman and other professional services firms. Amrita received a BA in International Relations from The College of Wooster.

Pete Wylie
Chief Financial Officer of CommonBond
Pete leads CommonBond’s student lending team, and previously served as the company’s vice president, finance. Prior to CommonBond, Pete was CEO and co-founder of Gradible, a personal finance technology company that helps people evaluate and optimize their student loan repayment options. In early 2016, CommonBond acquired Gradible. Before founding Gradible, Pete held roles in general management at growth stage startups, including Tough Mudder and 3Ships, a digital agency. Pete is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill.

Matthew Seelye
Chief Financial Officer of Kaplan
In his current role as CFO, Matthew Seelye oversees all of Kaplan’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting and analysis, transaction support, real estate, internal audit and procurement. Seelye joined Kaplan in 2001 as CFO of Kaplan Higher Education Campuses, then progressed to CFO of all of Kaplan Higher Education (KHE), which includes Kaplan University. During this period, KHE grew from a $100 million company with 28 institutions to a $1.5 billion company with over 75 institutions. KHE’s expansion was a result of both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. During this period of rapid growth, Seelye led the KHE finance function in a manner that ensured capital was strategically allocated to support long-term growth, the underlying financial infrastructure and related control environment was scaled properly, and business risks were appropriately managed. Prior to joining Kaplan, Seelye was the Corporate Controller of the Washington Post Company from 1997 to 2001. Previously at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), he held positions of increasing responsibility from 1990 to 1997 leading to Manager in the Business Assurance practice. Seelye is currently a member of the Financial Executives Institute (FEI). He holds a CPA and graduated with a B.B.A. majoring in Finance/Accounting from James Madison University.

Dave Martin
CFO of Fusion Academy
Dave is a senior financial executive with more than 20 years of experience in the areas of management, operational and financial analysis, business restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently Dave served as Chief Financial Officer for Hart & Cooley, an industry leader in the manufacturing of air distribution products. At Hart & Cooley Dave implemented several process improvement and cost reduction programs which led to significant savings and business process improvement. Prior to Hart & Cooley Dave served in executive financial positions with Tomkins Ltd., Fiat, SpA, and Lear Corporation. Dave started his career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Dave holds a B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Michigan State University and a Masters in Accounting from Walsh College. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and has a 5S manufacturing engineering certification.. Dave is married and has four daughters. Dave enjoys playing golf, running, coaching his daughter’s soccer teams and spending time with his family. Dave currently serves on the Board of Directors of several West Michigan companies.
