Thom first joined IFAW as the Reporting and Compliance Officer responsible for management of worldwide technical accounting, financial statement preparation, investment performance, and tax and regulatory compliance. Operating with the understanding that transparent financial reporting galvanizes donor trust, Thom made significant contributions to improving the quality and efficiency of IFAW’s financial and compliance reporting processes. Thom has since assumed the role of IFAW headquarters Chief Financial Officer. In this position, Thom leads IFAW’s finance team of approximately 20 professionals who are responsible for delivering financial support services to offices in 14 countries around the world. Before joining IFAW, Thom pursued careers within the financial services industry and public accounting. During his eight year career at KPMG, one of the world’s largest accounting firms, Thom earned accreditation as a CPA and rose to the level of Senior Manager. Two of those eight years were on international assignment in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where Thom was an advisor to multinational corporations on US-based accounting rules and regulations.
