Brian Cohen

Brian Cohen 30-year career features a wide variety of technology leadership roles and entrepreneurial ventures. Most recently, he was Vice President of Sales Strategy & Operations at Hewlett-Packard, where he was responsible for driving the Americas regional sales coverage and compensation, sales process management, sales productivity and sales readiness programs within HP’s Enterprise Group. In this effort, he worked closely with the Worldwide and Regional Business Units, Sales Finance, Human Resources, and Country-based Sales Operations teams. Prior to joining HP in August 2010, he was a Fellow in the 2009 New England Clean Energy Fellowship, an MIT program designed to prepare serial entrepreneurs for leadership roles in the clean technology industry. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of Steelbox Networks, developing technology for the next wave in video switching. As President and CEO of SPI Dynamics, Cohen led the company through its acquisition by HP in August 2007 when its application security software became a key part of the application management solution in the HP Software line. Under Cohen’s leadership, SPI Dynamics was recognized as one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America by Deloitte for four consecutive years starting in 2003. Cohen has also founded and served as President and CEO of Technologic, Inc. (sold to eSoft, Inc. in 1999), and in executive management positions with Management Matters, Inc., a private investment and consulting company, and Dun & Bradstreet Software (aka Management Science America). He has a BA from the University of Florida and began his technology career as a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems. Cohen also serves as Chairman of the Board of Lancope, Inc., a network security and network performance optimization company, as an advisor to Bluebox Security, a mobile security platform company, and is the proud father of two beautiful daughters.

Brad Surminsky

A passion for team sports mirrors Brad’s passion for driving teams to win. As Chief Financial Officer, Brad leads finance and accounting, human resources and legal at CentralSquare. He brings over 25 years of financial leadership experience to CentralSquare. Prior to CentralSquare, Brad served as a divisional CFO for D+H, a global financial technology service leader. Prior to D+H, he served as CFO of ADP Canada and then CFO of the National Accounts division of ADP. Brad also held senior finance roles at ACNielsen and UniHost Corporation. Brad began his career at Arthur Andersen in Toronto. He has a CPA, CA designation, and a business degree from the University of Toronto. When he’s not working, Brad is an avid golfer and college sports enthusiast, alternating between University of Georgia football and University of North Carolina basketball. Brad loves spending time with his wife and college-aged children, who attend UNC and UGA–which makes it easier to catch a lot of games.

James Ransom
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Financial Management Solutions
James W. Ransom As SVP Finance and Administration, James Ransom directs the day-to-day operations of FMSI’s finance and administration in addition to serving as FMSI’s Corporate Treasurer. He brings more than 20 years of senior management experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Ransom most recently worked with ALLTEL Information Services as Director of Business Partner Relationships. He also draws on experience gained from his tenure with ULTRADATA Corporation as Director of Marketing Strategies. An industry veteran, Mr. Ransom began his career as a banker in New York. Mr. Ransom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Purdue University. He has also completed MBA course work at Pennsylvania State University and Cornell University.

Lori Carella With 30 years of accounting experience, Lori manages FMSI’s finances with a keen eye toward process improvement, accuracy, and timeliness. Lori has worked as CFO/Controller in various private, public and non-profit industries including construction, education and training, resort and golf course properties and also as an analyst at The Coca-Cola Company. Her vast knowledge allows FMSI to benefit from best practices she has learned throughout her career. Lori is a member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University, Olean, NY.
